The City of Hoschton is entirely in Jackson County, but the 30548 ZIP code is much larger and reaches into Hall, Barrow and Gwinnett counties. That’s why some well-known “Hoschton” communities, like Reunion, Village at Deaton Creek and Del Webb Chateau Elan, are actually in Hall County.
I’ve sold homes in Hoschton since 2016. A Hoschton address doesn’t always mean the City of Hoschton, and the difference changes your schools, your taxes and who picks up your trash.
City limits vs. the 30548 ZIP
| Where the home sits | Schools | Taxes |
|---|---|---|
| City of Hoschton (Jackson County) | Jackson County Schools: West Jackson Elementary and Middle, Jackson County High today | City millage of 2.701, plus Jackson County and school taxes |
| Unincorporated Jackson County, 30548 | Jackson County Schools, by zone | Jackson County and school taxes, no city tax |
| Hall County, 30548 | Hall County Schools: Spout Springs Elementary, Cherokee Bluff Middle and High on recent listings | Hall County and school taxes, no city tax |
New Hoschton schools are coming
Jackson County is building a full Hoschton cluster at Hwy 332 and Boone Road. Hoschton High and Hayes Farm Elementary open in August 2027, and Sell’s Mill Middle opens in August 2028. New attendance zones start in 2027-28. If you’re buying with kids, I’ll confirm which school your address feeds before you make an offer.
Map the drive
Hoschton is shaped a little oddly, so a home with a Hoschton address can be farther from work, school or family than you’d expect. Check the commute at the times you’ll actually drive it.
